Sucker for baby headbands? Check out this giveway
If you're a sucker for a baby in a headband (and who isn't - the headbands available these days are ridiculously cute!), then you'll want to head over to Our Pregnancy Roadtrip and Beyond this week to enter to win one of the blogger's headbands that she sells on Etsy.
I checked out her shop earlier this morning, and I'm loving this headband. It's the perfect pick for Elsa to wear when she's rooting for her Ducks on game days this fall!

Go Ducks!
Elsa donned her University of Oregon onesie today in honor of watching her very first Duck football game. She was so excited about the game, she even went to bed an hour early last night in hopes that it would make the game come quicker.
While the team didn't win (boooo!!!), Elsa had funplaying with her toys watching the game. She will have quite a bit to discuss with her Uncle Chris and Bedstefar the next time she talks with them.

Enough with the pictures already, let's get this game started!
Jetsetting Gals
Last week marked another "first" for Elsa. Mama packed up the bags (and unpacked and repacked about four times for fear that something was being left behind), packed up the baby and handed Dada the keys to transport his two girls to the Sacramento Metropolitan Airport. There, we met Aunt Nic Nic and us three ladies flew to Southern California to celebrate the upcoming arrival of another sweet baby girl.
I have never had problems with flying but the entire week leading up to the trip was full of anxiety. What if I forgot something like diapers or bottles at home? What if Elsa screamed the whole flight, causing hundreds of strangers to forever hate us? What if we hit a pocket of air and I dropped Elsa causing her to be injured (again).
Thankfully, all of those worries were unnecessary. Miss Elsa was a little angel during the two flights!
However, Mama also got the pleasure of a "first" at the airport. When going through security for the flight home, something that looked unusual came up on the scan of Miss Elsa's diaper bag. This caused the TSA agent to swab the bag for potential bomb ingredients. The test came back positive!!! So I got the pleasure of having a FULL pat down.
And all of the contents in the diaper bag (including my poor pump) got (wo)manhandled by what I am guessing was latex gloves. You better believe that everything was dumped in the washing machine the instant we got home!
My camera was in the diaper bag, so pictures could not be taken of that leg of the trip (oh shucks!). But if you want all of the gory details, I'm sure that Aunt Nic Nic would be more than happy to share.

Oregon Adventures
Miss Elsa and I packed up the Jeep two weeks ago and made the long drive to my hometown of Junction City, Oregon (if you've never heard of it, don't feel bad... about 99.999% of the population hasn't!).
There were a couple of things that inspired the trip. First, it has been a while since the family had last seen their princess. Second, it was the town's annual Scandinavian Festival and I had to get some delicious food. Lastly, it was my *gasp* 10 year high school reunion. Can I just say that the reunion seemed to sneak up on me? I do not feel old enough for reunions!
We were gone for 10 days, which is the longest that Miss Elsa and I have ever been away from Carl (he stayed home to work and finance our little trip). We missed him like crazy and it gave me the opportunity to realize how much that Carl helps out with Miss Elsa in the evenings (like giving me a break from diaper duty!). However, we still managed to have fun, as shown by these pictures (I apologize in advance for there being so many!):

Have to spend some time with Bedstefar!
Aunt Jean gave us some delicious aebleskiver to nibble on when we were at the festival.

Passed out from all of the festival fun!
Family BBQ! Here is the mandated "kids" picture (minus two cousins who weren't there). Right after the picture was taken, my cousins notified me that I should no longer be considered a "kid". So sad!
Awwww!

Haircutting Adventures
Miss Elsa has been blessed with a head full of hair. We can't believe how much it has filled in and grown out over the last couple of months. I started to notice several weeks ago that her "bangs" were close to getting in her eyes, so I made the executive decision that it was time for her first haircut.
I personally have had only two experiences with cutting hair. The first was when I was five years old and had requested to get my hair styled like my older brother (who had a flat top....). So my mom took me to her regular salon and got me a pixie haircut. It was super cute but I was less than impressed, as I was envisioning something much shorter! So, when my mom wasn't looking, I got out my scissors and tried to cut my hair on my own. If I remember correctly, the scissors were safety scissors, so not much damage was done (but just enough that it warranted another trip to the salon).
The second incident involving Meghan and haircutting was when I was a sophomore in college. I had a short hair style at the time and I felt like it was getting too long in the back. Being lazy and cheap, I decided to take matters into my own hands and give it a trim. Boy was that a mistake! I drove over to Supercuts as fast as I could to get it corrected before Carl or anyone else could see the damage I had done.
As you can imagine, I have very low confidence in my own haircutting skills; if subjected to me, Elsa would probably be without an ear. So, instead of attempting to cut Miss Elsa's hair on my own, I decided to make an event of it and schedule an appointment for her at my old hair salon while we were visiting my hometown (I'll post about more about that next week). She was a real trooper during the haircut and only made a bit of a fuss, calming down when offered anew toy comb.
Here are some pictures of the big event (as you can see, Mama took the opportunity to get a haircut, too!):

Puppy Love
Miss Elsa has a BFF - Miss Bear Bear! The Little Miss and the Hairy Miss have been forming a friendship over the past couple of months. Elsa now knows the sound of Bear's collar so she is always looking around for the puppy when she hears the sound. And Bear is always willing to bathe Elsa with kisses.
Here are a couple of pictures I got of my two girls yesterday while we were playing on the family room floor.
